When I was a child I loved to give out Valentine cards. I did this until high school when it was no longer cool. LOL
I still love to give cards to my favorite people.
I love to see what people surprise each other with.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about Valentine's Day is spending the day with my hubby <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteChocolate--I'm all about the chocolates!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I usually go out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants the night before (not as crowded). We'll probably just do take out this year. And chocolate--almost anything chocolate!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy giving cards to my 5 grandsons, ages 26 months to 16, and I usually tape a 50¢ piece on the card! :)

ReplyDeleteMy husband worked with a bunch of rough, tough rowdy guys. On Valentine's Day, one year, while they were all sitting in the lunchroom eating lunch, I had a singing telegram type service send a girl in a tutu with a box of chocolates, find their lunchroom and ask for him. She climbed up on the table, did a dance and handed him the chocolates while she sang him a valentine song. I was kind of scared to hear what happened. About a half hour later, I got a call from my husband, laughing his head off, and telling me I was crazy! Even though he was embarrassed, he thoroughly enjoyed it. Interestingly, those tough guys all said, "Gee, my wife never did anything like that for me!" They were actually jealous. My husband was still laughing when he got home that night. It was a success!
ReplyDeleteI send valentines to great nieces and nephews. They enjoy getting their own mail.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of Valentine’s Day is eating as many chocolates as I want and not worry about my diet...until the day after. I also like getting red flowers to decorate my house.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of Valentine's Day is spending the evening with my husband. We have a special meal, a great wine and I make a favorite dessert. Years ago we agreed "no more gifts" and it was a smart move for us.
ReplyDeleteI love the Valentine candy!! The little hearts are so cute and I pretend that they are low cal!!
ReplyDeleteHalf price candy the day after
ReplyDeleteEnjoying a special dinner and a dessert I make with my hubby. Then exchanging gifts and cards. I also like to do a Valentine tea party with the cards and give them presents too.
ReplyDeleteFor me, spending the day or evening before Valentine’s Day making cookies or cupcakes with the grandkids. They love taking them to school for their friends. Unfortunately this year, it will not happen.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have a special day to celebrate love in my family.

I always enjoyed the cute little cards at school when I was a child, and then later on as a teacher continued with that. Now that I'm retired, I just get something small, candy or a small toy, for my grandchildren. My husband and I don't really celebrate it because every day is Valentine's Day to us...
ReplyDeleteMy husband every year has bought our daughter flowers and a stuffed animal. She’s now 24 and it still happens. We also have two boys, but Valentine’s Day has always been a father/daughter bond. It’s always a special day for her.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the chocolate.
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of the chocolate and celebration of romance.
ReplyDeleteI love romance and doing special things with my husband. I LOVED making mailboxes and passing out Valentines when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is giving and receiving a card; from my husband, of course. Another plus is that at this time of year all the birds are choosing territory and pairing off, so I can walk in the park and hear wonderful birdsong. This tells you spring has arrived and romance is in the air!
ReplyDeleteI love the Valentine candies, Hallmark movies, and big teddy bears:)
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is on the 15th(67). I love making cards for my grandchildren. My grandchildren make me cards and I take them to a skatepark if it is on a weekend. They are the greatest Valentines for me
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about Valentine's Day is just being with my husband, and maybe going out to dinner. I don't really need candy, flowers, or presents, my husband shows me lots of love all the time.
ReplyDeleteI just love spending time with my family. Our girls are grown now and we only have one at home. We used to go out to dinner or a movie as a family.
ReplyDeleteI too loved giving out valentines during grade school and always hoped to get one special one from the little boy that fluttered my heart that year. Now as an adult I love to see all the wonderful pink and red displays in the stores and know that my husband will do something special for me. He tells me Valentine's Day is a holiday for women to be treated extra special & he never wants gifts so I always write him a poem. :)
ReplyDeletecandy and books of course!
Delete...that it honors a person and let's them know someone cares about them.

Can I say when it is over? I always believe that you should show love every day. Why wait for 1 day to do something extra. let it be a part of your relationship to do the extra to show your love ones how much you appreciate them in doing the chores so that he or she does not, cook for them, play their favorite game that you hate etc.
ReplyDeleteCandy hearts.
ReplyDeletehugs from my 5 grandsons! (AND chocolate! :))
ReplyDeleteI love any excuse for white chocolate Reese’s cups. Sending cards to family and friends. Reminders of God’s love...posting the valentine pic of John 3:16

ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing is the chocolate. I love chocolate.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy picking out cards and small gifts for my grandkids. My granddaughter just spent the day making a Valentines Box to take to her preschool. It is fun to watch her get so excited over picking out cards for all her friends. She is into Wonder Women and had to have Valentines with Wonder Woman on them.
ReplyDeleteI do love giving out candies and little cards etc. when I can. I don't recall getting much if any while at School. Now I send some to my gal pals.
ReplyDeleteI like Valentine's Day because it is a time to sit back and think of all those people who make life special just by being friends. Of course some mean much more to us than others, but so many have forgotten just how important friendship is. Of course it is nice that we take that day to make an effort to let our life partner know how very special they are to us. That extra special gift or recognition makes all the difference in the world to help us face the trials of life together.
ReplyDeleteDoing things for my grandkids. In 41 years of marriage all I've got is 2 roses first year - silk and 1 each next 2. jrs0350 @ yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI love Valentine’s Day because it’s a chance for everyone to take a deep breath and focus on affection! Love and romance blots out the dislike and animosity floating around in the world, even if only for a day!
ReplyDeleteI love to buy the boxed candies the day after when they are on sale. I do remember the year that we didn't have conversation hearts.
ReplyDeleteI love that everyone is in a good mood and happy on Valentine's Day

ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about Valentine's Day was and still is the birth of our beautiful daughter, Sarah, on that day! (We went through the sorrows of 5 miscarriages prior to her birth. Sarah is a blessing and has brought us GREAT JOY!) (P.S. betsypz@yahoo.com is the email I actively use. I rarely visit my google account.)

My fav thing is sending all 20 Valentines out to grandkids there are 10 5 in Ca and 4 in Ia where we are at and then 1 in Michigan then I send some of my friends that i have had for many years theirs. I feel since i was in grade school and in a foster home that getting a Valentine from someone is so special and especially when i would bring those valentines home to the foster home and i would go under my covers and see what people wrote even though the foster home was so abusive i found that people liked me even though at the time 60 years ago my dad couldn't take care of me and took me to the police station for placement in the foster system seeing my one person who i knew was going to come home at night to the apartment and take me to school left me i still loved him so much and didn't like my mom as she was out all night and left me so i had to run across the street to the small store and i would get an ear of corn or a tomatoe and run out of the store and that was dinner. Getting a valentine shows the person that you are thinking of the person i have a friend who is 83 and widowed and my hubby brings her flowers and i send her a card as i want to make sure she knows we love her. So valentines is one days that you try to give single people love especially the kids and seniors it means so much. We do it for all the holidays but Valentines is pushed so much these days and kids you never know their home situation also seniors they have a tough time when they are single or widowed my heart goes out to them! peggy clayton ptclayton2 at aol.com
ReplyDeleteI'm single so I send out cards to all the nieces and nephews. Make little bags of candy and book, toys for them. And treat myself to something out of the ordinary.

ReplyDeleteMy birthday is Feb 11th so every year my birthday was always Valentine's themed starting from my mom's baby shower to even now at 53. I think in the beginning it was because it was just easier that way because that is what was in stores during that time but it became an ongoing thing. I really enjoy it. I also love to give Valentine's cards and gifts to my loved ones (sons, parents, cousins, nieces and nephews). My husband passed away 5 years ago but I enjoyed doing something special for him and my boys up until then. Now it's the boys. I usually cook something and make a dessert.
