Sometimes I think I'm my own worst enemy yet I'm so happy I can barely contain my joy though I'm sleep deprived. This past Saturday we brought home a 7 week old puppy. We've done this twice before, once fourteen years ago and then again ten years ago. One would think I'd have remembered the work, the energy necessary and the lack of sleep that comes with a puppy. I think it's a bit like childbirth, you forget the pain as soon as you hold the baby in your arms.
I'd like to introduce you to our girl, a red merle Australian Shepherd. She's so smart, sweet and playful. We've seen glimpses of a stubborn streak. I have a trainer coming to the house this week to beginning puppy lessons. My goal is for her to get her Good Citizen K-9 certificate and then maybe work toward Tracking competitions or SAR training. We'll have to wait to see until she's older.
